Bette Leigh "Bimi" Hicks

"Bimi" Bette Leigh Hicks, resident of Nowata, Oklahoma since 1947, completed her life October 30, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and William Gilmore; by her husband, Charles Dillon "Bud" Hicks; by sisters, Shirley Richardson and Pat Gaston. Mrs. Hicks is survived by her daughter, Lindy Poole; by a niece, Pam Williams; and by many devoted friends. Bimi was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and LaKeeKon where she served on numerous committees. She was a member of the Nowata Women's Golf Association and the Shangri-La Golf Association. Bimi was a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Bank, the 10-33 Ambulance Service, the Nowata Historical Museum, the Girl Scouts, and the PTA. Bimi was one of a kind. Golf trophies and friendships were her joys of a life well lived. She will be remembered for her kind giving spirit, her sense of humor, and her "rounds on the links".
